Film & Theology

Do you know how to read your culture? The purpose of this night is cultural exegesis. Don’t let those words scare you. As Christians we want to communicate the gospel to culture in which we find ourselves. Thus this evening is to look at a film from the culture and discuss what it reveals about the idols, ideals, desires, and common grace found within the culture. We want to view this world actively. In this case, we want to help train you to watch a film, not to unplug your mind, but as an opportunity to engage it. The format of the evening will be to begin with some opening comments, watch a film, then discuss that film in light of the gospel.
