Dear family and guests
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Due to a structural issue found in the venue we have been using for the last year, The Bridge, the council has closed the building and we, therefore, will not be able to meet there for the foreseeable future.
By God’s grace we have found another suitable venue to meet this Sunday, the 22nd of October, the Leatherhead Institute is located at the top of the Leatherhead high street. The address is below:
67 high street
Leatherhead
KT22 8AH
Below is some more information regarding tomorrow:
Parking – there is limited parking at the institute and is being reserved for those with disabled badges and for those serving early in the morning. Therefore we are asking everyone to park at the Swan Shopping Centre car Park a short walk away from the institute. It’s is free parking on a Sunday and has plenty of space.
Entrance – there is only one entrance from the main high street, it is the last building at the very top of the high street on the left and can’t be missed. There is a lift inside for those who need wheelchair accessibility. Our welcome team will be present to help direct people to where to go. We will then explain the Sunday School arrangements in the service itself.
Hospitality – there will not be any teas, coffees and refreshments on arrival, only after the service. This is simply to make the transition a little simpler for our first Sunday at the venue.
Children – THIS IS IMPORTANT – There is no outdoor space and aside from the allocated rooms for Sunday school the children are not able to be running around the corridors at any point. This is a building with other offices in and aside from the space we are renting we are not renting the whole building. All children have to be either in the main hall or in Sunday school lesson / youth / crèche. This is non negotiable at this present time as there literally is no other space we have aside from kitchens which evidently are not suitable. Plus the only outside space is out of the entrance onto the high street with a main road next to it.
This venue are quite strict on their expectations of children being supervised which means aside from when in lesson can all parents please ensure their children are with them and supervised at all times. I emphasise this because we are coming from the bridge building where we have had a lot more freedom with a garden and open area etc. We no longer have this and have to adapt to our new surroundings and the rules of those allowing us the space.
Please keep this is mind for those who have kids and prepare them in advance of the expectations for this new space.
Park & Playgrounds – With the above said, there are 2 park & playgrounds in the area, both half a mile away. They are the Leatherhead Park and the Fortyfoot Playground.
Going Forward – At this present time we are taking one week at a time in terms of our services. We have every intention of returning to the bridge centre when made available. However at the same time are aware that the council could take months / years to do the work or maybe never even open it up again. This is a provisional Sunday at the venue and we will see if it’s suitable to continue there for the time being but please be aware disciples church is in a time of transition. Be praying for the leadership as we seek guidance from our Lord as to what we are to do going forward.
Any questions please let us know.
Praise God for his provision!
Blessings
