The Bible vs Christian Books
As Christians, protestant and reformed, we hold firm the core doctrine of the sufficiency of Scripture. (2 Timothy 3:15-17 and Jude 1:3) The bible also tells us that “the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith””. (Romans 1:17) And so we are encouraged to look at the faith of those who went before us that we may “run with endurance the race that is set before us”. (Hebrews 12:1) This same faith can be found in the accounts of the Bible or in many christian books written by fellow believers.
From Faith for Faith
If the faith of a brother or sister in Christ can be an encouragement to me then I should not dismiss it or let it go to waste. Yet not everyone has the ability, the interest or the time to read.
Now nothing takes the place of having a physical book in our hands, where we can read and re-read when our mind wanders or make notes of the things God is showing us as we read. But an Audio Book, that we can listen to on the way to work or as we tidy the house, can be a good alternative.
Disciples church has available a collection of books for sale (at cost price), books to lend. Now we have even created a playlist of available audio books on Youtube that we hope can build your faith.
