Good Friday Evening Service

Happy Passover everyone!

Easter is the English word used for the original name of this feast – Passover (Pesach). In fact, Passover is often used to refer to the 3 feasts that run in sequence (Lev 23).

  1. Passover. The day God saved His people from slavery in Egypt.
  2. Unleavened bread. Leaven symbolises sin, and the people were told to leave Egypt with unleavened bread.
  3. Firstfruits. Symbolic of baptism through the crossing of the red sea (1Cor 10:2 & 1Pe 3:21) and once in the promised land related to barley harvest.

Passover, foreshadows the coming of Jesus, our Deliverer and our Saviour. He is the One who made eternal atonement for our sins. You may recall John the Baptist, seeing Jesus coming toward him, crying out, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29).

The perfect lamb who died on the cross (Passover), paid for our sins and did not see corruption in the grave (Acts 2:27) (unleavened bread) and was resurrected as the first fruits from the dead (Firstfruits) (1Cor 15:20). Let’s celebrate Jesus, our Passover lamb!

Join us this Friday, all are welcome.
