“You’re born, you suffer, you die. But there’s a loophole…” (Ambassador – Christology in layman’s terms)
Lets talk about death!
No one chooses to be born, no one can escape suffering and no one can stop death! 10 in every 10 people die, yet most people don’t like to talk about this subject. Why?
The bible tells us that it’s “Better to spend your time at funerals than at parties. After all, everyone dies–so the living should take this to heart.” (Ecclesiastes 7:2). Nothing could be further from our minds right? Who wants to spend time at funerals? Who thinks it would be beneficial to consider the frailty of life and the sobering reality of death? Never mind that! YOLO! That’s what most of us are all about.
But what if we didn’t only live once? And what if we didn’t only die once either? Would that make a difference? If, as the bible says, there is a spiritual reality that is actually the foundation of all we see around us, would we reconsider? Or are we so certain that nothing exists beyond this physical reality that we are willing to bet our life on it?
Escaping the Pain
According to the World Health Organisation, a massive 800,000 people take their lives every year — one death every 40 seconds. That’s 3,000 a day! For these people life has nothing more to offer.
“Ask my boys, we all feel we got a raw deal. I feel like cashing in my chips, crashing in my four-wheel, for real. The pain is driving me insane kid! Explain this: how much longer can I sustain it? What could make more sense than suicide? Cause after being born you only suffer then you die…” (Ambassador – Christology in layman’s terms)
This is the result of lives lived without hope, without purpose. Self-made people living self-made lives with only themselves, and others like them, to rely on and look up to… and we are all fallible and finite. How can it ever work?

How can there be a loophole to death? People have certainly tried to find one for thousands of years but the “Fountain of Youth” has never been found. People might even be raised from the dead, like Lazarus in the bible, but guess what, some time later, he died. Whatever has a beginning has an end. Right?
But what if the creator of all that exists, including time itself, was not confined to time, and therefore, did not have a beginning or an end? After all its only common sense that someone needs to exist before the thing that they create. Can you imagine someone being a mother before they are a daughter? Can you imagine an egg appearing before there is a chicken? A painting needs an artist, a building needs a builder… you get the idea.
So time comes to an end to all who are in it. The creator of time cannot logically be in it.
The bible tells us from the very beginning that God created man and women in his likeness and his image (Genesis 1:27) meaning that we are not only physical beings but we have a spiritual existence. And if its in the likeness of God then it’s not bound to time either. All throughout the bible there are references to a life after death, but perhaps one of the most popular verses is John 3:16:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
So there you have it! There is a loophole! This life is not all there is, there is more. And its not more of the same, no, its a very different life from this physical life and its a “much longer” life then this short temporal life. However, I’ll be honest with you, there is a catch! Did you notice what the condition was in the verse quoted above? “Whoever believes” that’s the criteria.
So the question is: Do you believe?
