More Details About the Scheme and Visa Application

How does it work

  • We are offering to collect the information from both parties and submit it to the government. This is because the government requires for there to be a sponsor in order for the refugee to submit the visa request.
  • We are in contact with a network of churches and organisations on the border of Ukraine to collect refugee applications. This way we are able to be in direct contact with the refugees, via the network, and build a relationship in the process.
  • Meanwhile we are also in contact with several church is in the UK and will be collecting applications from sponsors. These sponsors will also be vetted by the church leadership and give the refugees some assurance. This is on top of the checks the government will also carry out
  • Once we find adequate matches we contact both parties, allow them to communicate, and ask any questions (we provide translation via our network, if required) before beginning the process of submitting the visa request.
  • Once the visa has been approved we are also offering to help the refugee with their travel arrangements and costs, if required.
  • Finally we would like to continue in contact with both the sponsor and the refugee to see how further we can help with the adaptation and integration to the community.

People wanting to be sponsors who do not know anyone personally fleeing Ukraine can also record their interest with the government here. However, it will be the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) that will contact the sponsor about their interest and they’ll be paired with a refugee family if their application is successful.

Refugee and Sponsor forms

We have created 2 forms, one for the Ukrainian refugees and another for the sponsors so that we can help both parties to go through the required process that the government has stipulated. The forms ask the same questions as the government portal, the information collected will be kept safe and will not be shared or used in any circumstance and, once submitted to the government site, it will be deleted from our system. Only your name and contact details will be kept, if you so desire, for further communication.

Our prayer is that in the midst of this horrible situation of immense pain and loss there will be many moments of hope and comfort.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too
